The year in books: June

May apparently was a month of not reading - I did knit a lot, though.  Must learn to read and knit at the same time, although really I can see that being a bit problematic!

My book for June is Flawed by Cecelia Ahern - it's her first YA book and I was intrigued when I read the blurb on NetGalley - I think I was in the right mood for a dystopian novel.  I'm also reading The Big Necessity: Adventures in the world of human waste by Rose George.  Access to toilets and running water and drainage and sewers is so important, yet is something we don't really talk about. I spent my gap year volunteering in rural South Africa in a school which had ten long drop toilets for about 400 staff and students and I quickly realised how much I appreciate clean running water and flushing toilets!  This book so far is not for the squeamish, though.

In May I read The Saturday Big Tent Wedding Party by Alexander McCall Smith so I am now completely up to date with this series of books (even if I have read them completely out of order, which didn't really matter at all in terms of long-running stories regarding the main characters).

As I've said about all the others, if you like one of the books, you'll probably like them all, if you didn't like one you tried, then you probably won't like the others, as they are quite similar.  A comforting read and Botswana is still relatively high on my list of countries I'd like to visit.

  1. Audible listening books; it's the only way to craft and read at the same time, but not really good for knitting. Patterns *eucgh!* are hard to read and still concentrate on the plotlines!
